Amazon Music is a popular streaming service that offers a vast library of songs that you can listen to on-demand. One of the convenient features of Amazon Music is the ability to download songs for offline listening, which is great for situations where you don’t have an internet connection. However, there may come a time when you want to free up space on your device or simply remove songs you no longer need. In this comprehensive guide, we will walk you through the process of un-downloading songs on Amazon Music, whether you’re using the mobile app or the desktop client.

Un-Downloading Songs on the Amazon Music Mobile App (iOS/Android)

Un Downloading Songs on the Amazon Music Mobile App iOS Android

If you primarily use the Amazon Music mobile app on your iOS or Android device, follow these steps to un-download songs:

  • Open the Amazon Music App

Launch the Amazon Music app on your mobile device and make sure you are signed in to your Amazon account.

  • Navigate to Your Library

Tap the “Library” tab at the bottom of the screen. This will take you to your music library.

  • Select “Downloads”

In your music library, tap on “Downloads” at the top of the screen. This will display all the songs and albums that you have downloaded for offline listening.

  • Choose Songs to Un-Download

You will see a list of downloaded songs and albums. To un-download individual songs, swipe left on the song you want to remove. A “Remove” button will appear; tap it to un-download the song.

  • Un-Download Entire Albums or Playlists

If you want to un-download an entire album or playlist, tap on the album or playlist to open it. Then, tap the “Download” button (which should now show a cloud icon with a downward arrow) to un-download the entire album or playlist.

  • Confirm the Un-Download

Amazon Music will ask for confirmation before un-downloading a song or album. Confirm the action, and the content will be removed from your device’s storage.

Un-Downloading Songs on the Amazon Music Desktop Client (Windows/Mac)

If you use Amazon Music on your Windows PC or Mac, you can un-download songs using the desktop client. Here’s how:

  • Open the Amazon Music Desktop Client

Launch the Amazon Music desktop client on your computer and log in with your Amazon account credentials.

  • Access Your Downloaded Music

In the Amazon Music desktop client, click on the “My Music” tab located on the left-hand side of the screen. This will take you to your music library.

  • View Downloaded Music

Under “My Music,” select “Downloaded Music” from the list of available options. This will display all the music you have downloaded for offline listening.

Un-Download Songs or Albums

To un-download individual songs, right-click on the song you want to remove and select “Remove Download.” A confirmation prompt will appear; click “Remove” to confirm.

To un-download an entire album or playlist, right-click on the album or playlist title, and choose “Remove Download” from the context menu. Confirm the action when prompted.

  • Verify Un-Downloads

Once you’ve un-downloaded songs or albums, they will no longer appear in your downloaded music library. You can always re-download them later if you change your mind.

View Storage Usage

If you’re concerned about how much storage space your downloaded music is using, Amazon Music provides a way to check:

  • On the Amazon Music mobile app, go to “Settings” > “Streaming & Downloading.” Under “Downloads,” you can see the total storage used by your downloaded music.
  • In the Amazon Music desktop client, click on “Settings” (the gear icon) in the top-right corner of the app. Under the “General” tab, you’ll find the “Downloaded Music Storage Limit” section, which shows how much storage space your downloads are using.

Automatic Downloads

Amazon Music offers an option to automatically download songs and albums from your library to your device. To manage this feature:

  • In the Amazon Music mobile app, go to “Settings” > “Streaming & Downloading” and toggle the “Automatically Download Amazon Music Purchases” option on or off.
  • In the Amazon Music desktop client, go to “Settings” > “Advanced” and check or uncheck the box next to “Automatically download purchases.”

Download Quality

You can choose the quality of music downloads on Amazon Music. Higher quality downloads will take up more storage space. To adjust the download quality:

  • In the Amazon Music mobile app, go to “Settings” > “Streaming & Downloading” and select your preferred download quality under “Download Quality.”
  • In the Amazon Music desktop client, go to “Settings” > “Advanced” and choose your preferred download quality under “Download Quality.”

Managing your downloaded music on Amazon Music is a straightforward process, whether you’re using the mobile app or the desktop client. Enjoy your music, whether online or offline, with the flexibility that Amazon Music provides.
